Aberlady Bay Highlights

Aberlady Bay nature reserve in East Lothian is one of my favourite places to go either early in the morning or at dusk. In autumn there is the spectacle and incredible sound of thousands of geese taking off at dawn or coming in to land at dusk. However there are other great sights all year round. Here are some of my favourite phtographs taken there this past year.

Red fox running
Backlit Bunny
Curlew
Roe deer
Linnet, in’it?
Greylag geese hiding in grass
Hare hiding in grass
Geese in flight
Skylark singing

There can sometimes be long eared owls roosting there in winter, I always have my eye out for them but have still to spot them hiding amongst the bushes. I have still to see a short eared owl and this is what I’ve always got my eye out for. They hunt over the dunes in daylight. I’ll keep a close watch out for one in the months to come.
