Coping with the Cold

This week has been great for getting out into the crisp winter sunshine. On a walk yesterday I saw this young swan standing stock still and looking like it was missing its head! I was a bit worried about it, however it was just sleeping and when I passed by later it was fully awake, sitting on an icy platform.

I’ve been able to put my spikes on to get more grip on the ice but these pink footed geese were finding it a bit slippy.

This hare was hunkered down on the frosted grass, waiting for the morning sun to warm him up a bit.

This deer was lying down catching some late afternoon sunshine.

Over at Aberfoyle I went to see if I could photograph some red squirrels. I did see one, but he or she could not open the peanut feeders. The lid must have been frozen. Here it is pushing…

And pulling …

Then it gave up. It’ll have to go searching for cached food instead.
