I was out for a walk this morning, hoping to see a hare as always, but little did I know there was a treat in store for me. I spotted a few hares together at the top of a field so I made my way for a closer view of them from behind a hedge.

One minute they would be sitting around quite still then all of a sudden one would twitch and it was all action as they began chasing and boxing with each other.

It’s almost like they’re playing a game of tig.

They would go chasing each other at great speed around the fields. I had to move to try and get into a better position to try and snap the action using a fast shutter speed.

Hares can run as fast as 45mph! It’s thrilling to watch them tear over the grass.

It’s thought that the female boxes to fight off unwanted suitors.

At one point there were four hares in total all cavorting around the fields.

They ran along the top of a field and then disappeared from view into a dip.

I was more than happy to witness these “mad March hares”.
