On my walks back and forth across fields to observe the tawny owls I’ve loved seeing other wildlife in amongst the buttercups, in the hedges and on the pond. I never know what is going to pop up in my line of vision next.

I’ve not seen the fawns again. I suspect they are tucked safely out of view in the barley field. However some young bucks were out foraging in the buttercup field the other evening. They came quite close.

This grey squirrel froze on this tree in owl wood, not sue what its next move was going to be.

I heard this woodpecker make its “chook chook” call and was able to find it by following the sound. It was up on this stump catching the last of the sun’s rays.

Another bird I’ve come to spot by hearing its call is the bullfinch. The male is very striking, always a pleasure to see.

I came across a family of long tailed tits flitting about and whistling to each other amongst the hawthorn bushes and trees. Always a favourite to see, such fluffy cute bundles.

Sadly the cygnets on the pond are no more. The swan couple are alone. The cygnets must have been predated. Hopefully this little grebe chick will fare better.
