Buzzing

I knew the buzzards must have had an active nest in the wood as when walking past a parent buzzard circled overhead calling out a warning cry. So last night we went into the wood to see if we could see the nest. The old one was blown down in a January storm so we weren’t sure where the new one was.

Eureka! We spotted it and were able to see a young buzzard sitting on it. It could be quite close to fledging. It was very alert and vocal.

While one parent could be seen hunting over a nearby field the other was perched close to the nest on lookout duty.

Here is another view of the buzzard chick.

Often a parent buzzard can be seen perched at the very top of a pine tree. Much easier to see than tawny owls!
